Junk Food Essay
What do you consider junk food? It’s not just potato chips and crackers, it’s also pizza, cheeseburgers, and fried chicken fingers - these are all being served in the cafeteria. First of all, students are old enough to make their own choices. Second, if the cafeteria is serving junk food, then why can’t you buy it. But most importantly, It won’t really make a difference because students will just bring snacks from home and eat them at school.
First of all, students from many different schools are old enough to make their own choices. It is a student's decision if they buy chips in a vending machine or not. According to the article “Should States Ban Junk Food from Schools?”, New Jersey has already banned all school from junk food. But do you think that has made a difference? No, it hasn't, because students will just bring food from home and eat it at school.
Second, the cafeteria serves pizza, fried chicken fingers, and cheeseburgers. Don’t you consider that junk food? Some people only consider chips and candy as junk food, but have you ever thought of food that the cafeteria serves. According to the article “Should Schools ban Soda?”, a little less than half of the school throws away their vegetables but keeps their pizza, cheeseburgers, ex. If students keep doing this, then it will be useless to ban junk food.
Third, there won’t be a difference if we ban junk food. Students have junk food at home that they eat, so they would just bring it to school. According to “Should Schools ban Soda?”, a little more than 85% of the students bring their own sugary drinks from the outside of school. If we banned junk food in our schools, students would bring junk food in their lunch boxes so they can eat it during school. Students can also give it out to their friends so they can have some during school too.
On the other hand, in the past year, people’s eating habits have increased over 20%. The obesity in schools have gone up a lot more than they have a year ago. But most of this happens from cafeteria food, not junk food from vending machines or goodie stores. Students are old enough to make their own choices. If they choose to eat healthy then it is their choice, not yours.
In conclusion, we should keep goodies in our school. Plus if you do ban it, students will start to bring more junk food to school in their lunches. People know how to make their own choices and they will. Also there won’t be any change in our eating habits because students would just bring goodies from home.
Great job. This really makes sense. I would try and make the conclusion longer, but other than that, it's really good.
