Accidents #5
“Why are you at the hospital?” aunt Rose asked. You can always expect her to get start to the point. “I came to see what happened with my parents.”
“Oh goodness, how are they?”
“Mom is fine, just a little injured mainly on her back and face.”
“Well that is a relief and what of your father?” she said clearly relieved that her sister in law was fine. To her mom basically was a sister.
“I don’t know to be honest, but aunt Rose I am getting seriously tired. Can you please come get my or send uncle Sean to come get me?”
“Oh my gosh he is the dead one they are talking about isn't he.” she started blabbering about how they say one ended up dead yada yada.
“Aunt Rose!” I snapped, “As far as I know he is fine and I would prefer to tell you this in person so could you please come pick me up?”
“Sorry, I will be right there, which hospital are you at?”
“Rock-field Foundation Hospital.”
“Okay, I will be right there then we can talk about what happened.”
“Bye aunt Rose.”
“Bye O.C.” she said and with that she hung up.
When I went out of the room, I saw nurse Kay pulling her back in a bun. I couldn't believe that it was possible for my aunt to cry. She would rather dangle over a shark pool barely being held by a thread than to show her emotions. You can see why her and my mother get along so well. They are both stone hard warriors and would rather face death then surrender on their knees. Nurse Kay looked through the corner of her eye and saw me exit the room. “I don’t need to know the answer honey, but if you had a phone why did you need to call from the office?”
“I didn't want people to see me upset like this, also when I talk to my aunt something just clicks to be annoyed with people."
“Is she coming to get or do you need a ride to her house because I get off in a half hour.”
“Don’t worry Kay she is coming?”
“Just go ahead and sit on a couch in my office, third door right side, I will go get us some snacks. What would you like?” Turning to the door Nurse Kay claimed to be her office, I said, “I would like a water to drink at the moment, and maybe something snacky.” With that nurse Kay nodded and went down the hall a ways to get some food. Entering her office, I plopped down on the couch and closed my eyes recalling how my day had started.
Usually when I am sad, I listen to music. Sadly, the happiest song on my phone wouldn't even make me happy. It kept taking me back to moments with my parents which just made me even more upset.
After about five minutes nurse Kay came in with a bottle of water and some crackers. She handed to me as she said, “I have to get back to work for a moment, when your aunt arrives I will have another nurse named Sally come and get you, okay?” I nodded as I drank the water. I didn't realize how thirsty I had been today. As nurse Kay left, I laid my head on the couch and tried to go to sleep. It had been about twenty minutes when I heard a feminine voice roar, “Where is my niece!”
