April Post ~ Brinley Sullivan

I listened to the poem "How do I Know When a Poem is Finished" by: Naomi Shihab Nye. I really liked how she compared a poem to a room. How the poem is not finished, it's just resting. That you can always go back and change things, but others you might want to leave the same.

My Poem:

The Beach
The sun in the sky
The water so cool and blue
The sand in my toes

The waves are crashing
The salty sea breeze blows hard
Seagulls fly away

Sand castles we built
The sea shells we did find
Washed away, all gone

The picnic did end
Our sandy hair and feet
No more ocean spray

My poem is a haiku about when my family and I went to the beach in San Diego this summer.

  1. I like how you described your trip and how it felt. I think you could write more on what you did, but other then that I love it!! Keep up the great work!

  2. I really liked how you described the whole trip and how it felt to you. I agree with Matt that you can make it better by writing more about the things you did. Other that that, it was amazing, Keep it up!!
