April Blog Post-Sierra Renstrom

I watched the poem "Jackrabbits, Green Onions and Witches Stew" by Juan Fellepe Herrera.  I chose this poem because it sounded interesting to me. I liked the way the author read it and the rhythm of the poem. In fact, it could be turned into a song. My favorite part was at the ending, when he said, "Bubble gum sun!"  This poem made me laugh. He made the poem come to life with vivid descriptions and fun.

Soccer Poem

There are lots of different sports
like basketball or baseball,
but there is one sport
that is better than the rest.

The ball is black and white.
There are two large nets.
The game is played on grass.
Soccer is my favorite sport.

My team scores a goal.
We all cheer with joy!
 We all give hugs
and now we are up by two.

But even if we don't win,
we are still number one.
We play hard day and night
so we can beat them next time.

  1. I love this poem. It's great. I loved how you said that soccer was the best sport. I totally agree. I probably wouldn't even change a single thing about it. Wonderful Poem.

  2. Great job Sierra!!! I love sports and I liked how you named a lot of them but only focused on one! It really painted a picture in my mind of what you experience when you play soccer. I would maybe just write a little more on what it feels like to be in the game. Other then that l really enjoyed it!!
