Have you ever seen a boy sleeping with a pack of wolves?  Just as I thought, you haven't.  Here, let me paint a picture in your mind.  Jason was a 12 year old boy.  He was very interested in things like machines and animals and tools.  For example, when he was three, he tried to catch a bird but almost got hit by a car.  That scared him mom so bad that she did not let him out of her sight for about ten days.  Then when he was five, he was smashing rocks with a hammer, but he smashed his thumb and cried a lot.  But the worst of all was when he had to go to his Grandmother's house.
It all started when Jason came home from school and his mom said, "Guess what?  You get to go to your grandma's house."
Jason said, "Hey Mom, thanks for letting me guess!  And why do I have to go to her house?  It smells old and like prunes?"
She said, "I thought that you liked her house?"
"Ya I liked it when I was four!" Jason said.
His mom said, "Well, you're going wether you like it or not, and I hope that you do it with a good attitude, you know how Grandma feels about things like that."
When Jason's car pulled up, her house looked the same as it did eight years ago.  "Mom, why do I even have to stay at her house for this long?" said Jason.
"Because me and your father are going on a cruise," said Mom.
Like always Jason had to correct her grammar, "You mean father and I," mumbled Jason.
Then him mom said, "Time to go, hope you have a fun time."
     "Not likely," said Jason.
When Jason knocked on the door nobody answered.  He thought in his mind, hey, maybe the old woman is not home.  But just as he finished that thought, he heard the bolt for the door slide open with an erie creak, that creak gave Jason the goosebumps.  The door opened and showed a little old lady, her hair in a bun, her skin all wrinkled.  For a second Jason thought why he was so mad for not wanting to come here.
His grandma invited him in and said, "Your room is in the basement."
Great he thought.  Out of all the rooms in the mansion this was the room he got, gee thanks grandma.  When he got down there it was full of animals and robots and tools, WOW!  Grandma, you have got lots of tools.  He set up his bed and started on the robots.  He already had the vision in his mind that he was going to make robot wolves so he could entertain himself while he was here.  First, he made the blue prints, then he found all the pieces for the wolves. He worked on it all week, and they were finally done.  He only had made one of the wolves because they took so long.  He took the wolf outside and turned the power on,  It sprang to life.  Jason had fun with the wolf, then everything went wrong.  The wolf malfunctioned and too off for the woods.  Jason yelled and grabbed the remote and pressed buttons, but the wolf just kept on running.  So Jason started running after it; he threw things at it.  When it got to the edge of the woods, it stopped, shuddered and exploded.  Jason found the head of his now destroyed wolf and cried, almost as bad as when he smashed his finger.  Then he heard a growl and looked up.  In front of him stood the biggest wolf he had ever seen.  The it said, "Come, stop weeping, and follow me."
Well, that's what Jason thought it said.  Jason stood up and said, "I am not going to go with you."  The wolf growled and Jason said, "You want me to to with you, sure I'll go.  Why didn't you just ask?"  When they walked what seemed like ten miles they finally stopped.  Jason asked, "Where are we going anyway?"  The wolf growled and Jason said, "Hey dude, back off."  When they had walked another ten miles, they stopped and the wolf stepped on a stone and the boulder in front of them moved and showed a dark tunnel with a slide in it and Jason slipped and fell into the darkness.  Jason had blacked out.  When he woke he was surrounded by wolves that were very much asleep.  Jason tried to slip by, but the big wolf snapped its jaws and Jason moved back to the middle of the circle.  Jason tried to think, but he eventually dozed off.  There, for all the world to see, a twelve year old boy slept with a pack of wolves,

  1. This book is great and has a very interesting ending, but I think your rushed the robot wolves a little too quickly. It was basically just 'great, I have to sleep in the basemen-WOAH I think I'll build a bunch of robot wolves so I can have fun', other than that it is a great beginning to what I hope is going a be a longer story.

  2. LOVE how strong of a character Jason is. He's sarcastic and fun to read about. I'm rather a fan, especially the way he corrects his mom's grammar under his breath. I would recommend you flesh this into a longer strong. Seth (the kid/SAM) is correct in that the wolf part is rushed. When you revise, add more background information about how Jason has always been fascinated by wolves so that when he makes the robot wolf, it's not so random. This is really creative and fun to read, please keep it going!
