The Lauren Contest
Lauren Bedesky was diagnosed with neuroblastoma when she was a teenager. She fought, would feel well and she would win. There were times when doctors and nurses were fighting to keep her alive. Lauren’s life had changed so dramatically, she was so very close to death. How she coped with the trials that she had to go through, no one knows. We do know that it was hard. She always had a good attitude, and that helped her get through the hard times.
On the morning of May 27, 2012, Lauren’s life changed very abruptly. Her mom noticed that she had a very strange lump on her chest. Her mom, being a nurse,  realized that it could be a very big problem. Lauren’s mom told her that she was taking her to the hospital. Though Lauren felt fine, she reluctantly went. What the surgeons found inside her was a 15 pound tumor the shape of a football.

In the spring of 2013, therapy was finally finished. She had survived countless rounds of chemo. She survived nine rounds of radiation. The cancer that had scared her and her family was finally gone. After all those tests and treatments, it was finally gone. Lauren now works with an organization called the St. Baldrick's Foundation. She is healthy and ok and it was all because of her good attitude.

  1. Nice job Carrson! Maybe add more details to when she was in the hospital or about her attitude. Other than that, really nice job! Keep up the good work! :)

  2. Good job! I also think you should add a little more detail. I also liked how you mentioned the size of the tumor.

  3. Great start! Remember the contest wants to know how Lauren found hope and coped with recovering from cancer. So, write more about the coping rather than retelling the details of her hardships. You are certainly on the right track:)
