Dear Congress,
There are lots of very good reasons why veterans should be given the chance to adopt the military dogs they worked with. First of all, if you had a dog and he was just awesome and friendly, would you want to adopt him? For example, in the article it said that for Jose and Zenit , that it was on those evenings that they were happiest, just the two of them, working together in the dusty, desert otherworld of Afghanistan. Also, it mentioned, Man and dog bonded right away, like they were made for each other. When Jose stepped on an IED, the second thing he said was “Where’s Zenit?” Then, suddenly Zenit was assigned a new handler, he said, “I was furious and jealous. We were a team. I just want my dog.” But Jose isn’t the only soldier who has felt a nagging sense of incompleteness without his or her dog. So, would you really want to just suddenly rip apart veterans relationships with their dogs after all they have been through? Everybody needs their dogs because dogs our like our family, they help each other, have great memories with each other, dogs our part of us, and when they are gone, we feel incomplete. That is why veterans should be able to adopted the military dogs they worked with.
Sincerely, Locklin Hammett
Really nice Locklin! I appreciate how you lay out the reasons and then refer to a passage from the text: awesome! I like the quotes. So many references really make for a strong contest entry. Well done. Print it out and hand it in. Good work:)
