Lauren Contest

Lauren Bendesky Is your average teen aged girl. She has family and friends that enjoy spending time with her, but for a long period of time she was not able to see them. She could not see them because she was in a hospital fighting for her life against a kind of cancer called  Neuroblastoma. This cancer has affected her life jarrasticly. Her life has changed in many ways, one of the ways was having to live in a hospital for many weeks, also she couldn’t see her friends and family for a while. In the article Unbroken it says “  All around her had been the sounds of medical machines▬a percussive melody of beeps and bleeps that allowed an army of nurses and doctors to keep close tabs on her condition. These noises had become the soundtrack to her life.”.

She has coped with these challenges with two jars, at the end of each day she would take a bag of pink and blue stones, if she felt good she would take a pink stone and put it in a jar, if she felt she would take a blue stone and put it into a jar. Another reason she has coped with these challenges is her friends and family being with her when they could to support her and give her hope. In conclusion her life has been changed because of cancer also she has coped with cancer by getting support from her friends and family.
