Imperfections

                                                             Imperfections
                         A broken window,
                         a crooked chair,
                         a half-written book,
                         a dust-topped camera,
                         so many imperfections.
                         A wrinkled page,
                         a ripped poster,
                         a broken lock,
                         a shattered picture.
So many imperfections, but the only thing that matters
                         are the stories behind them.

Chapter 1 Continuing But It's Almost Done

                “What’s your power?”
“I’m fire. I shoot fireballs, I can’t get burned, and I control fire. I can set you on fire, but you won’t get burned.” Her eyes widened with wonder and admiration. She looked over at the rest of her friends. “What’s everyone else’s power?” Looking at my six friends I shrugged and said after a while, “I’ll tell you later. So Marco, what were you saying before?”
“I said that very powerful elves have been disappearing. Lavendara, the elf of all plants, disappeared yesterday morning. So did Oaklic, that weird elf that controlled how big the trees got. His magic must have not lasted long because the trees in Big Bear Lake, California have already started to grow at tremendous speeds and aren’t stopping. Shimmera, the queen of water, disappeared last Friday and floods are happening all over the world! A huge flood that started on Saturday in New York is still going. The water’s probably taller than a three story building.”
“It’s actually a six story building,” Bree corrected, “Without the queen’s powers to calm the water, it’s going about six thousand miles per hour. New York is a very large place that rarely every gets floods, but the tides have been ruined and are going higher than they should.”
“Where did you learn this?” Madi asked, staring at Bree in surprise. The twins also shared her look.
Bree reached into her backpack, and pulled out her book once more, opening to the table of contents and running her finger down the page, trying to find a specific chapter. “Aha!” she said happily, and began flipping the aging pages of the large book. She stopped at a torn page, ran her finger again down it, and then shoved the book in Madi’s face.
If Shimmera, the queen of the water, disappears, waters everywhere could reach speeds up to ten thousand mph,” Madi read, and then turned to Bree, “You said six thousand miles!”
“Keep reading!” Bree urged, “And then look at the diagram at the bottom.” Instead of reading more of the text, Madi looked at the bottom of the page and saw a small diagram, explaining how fast the water could go in different states. Madi sighed when she saw that Bree was right.
“Guys, we better go!” Margo said, looking up from her watch, “We’ve been in the bathroom way to long. It’s very suspicious.”
I carefully unlocked the door, and opened it a crack. I could see a couple, holding hands at a table waiting for their order in a made up straw hut that was obviously fake. A minute later a guy in a pirate costume came, balancing a delicious looking cheese pizza on his hand. Other than that, the restaurant was quiet. I gestured to my friends and we snuck out before anyone noticed us.

Rebekah: Chapter 1 Continues

“Have you all had the dream?” Madi said the word ‘dream’ in a creepy voice, causing Linda to hide behind my legs and squeeze my hand, “I’ve had it for the past week.” She pulled a flashlight out of her pocket and shown it on her face. It made her fair skin look ghostly pale and her light green eyes were almost white. Her almost-white-blond hair seemed whiter than ever, making her look like a ghost. “The dream was terrifying!” she said in her creepy voice. When Linda shrieked, Madi laughed and turned off the flashlight, putting it back into her pocket of her shorts.
“I sure have,” Margo said, with a faint Canadian accent, sitting on the closed toilet. Marco nodded next to Margo in her wheelchair, her brown hair up to her shoulders bounced up and down. The twins looked exactly alike; except Margo had hazel eyes and Marco had brown. They both had tan skin and short brown hair that barely grazed her shoulders. Not only that, they were both Canadian.
“That’s not why I called you guys.” Nadili insisted, but no one paid attention.
“It was really scary. Some scary shadows popped out at me and someone was saying something to me. He said something about the prophecy, the one I learnded a little bit about in a book. He also said something about us being the ones in the prophecy. I’m scared.” Linda said, ignoring her sister. She shivered and scooted closer to me.
Bree pulled a thick, purple book stamped with golden patterns out of a teal backpack she had brought with her and opened to a page, beginning to read.
Chapter 166: The Prophecy
The prophecy is a prediction of what is going to happen.
“When I rule the world,” Madi giggled.
Written by the most famous magician of all time-
“Dumbledore.” she continued crossing her eyes.
Dr. Harris,” Bree continued, trying to ignore Madi. “It states an evil magician, known as”
        “Adolf Hitler,” she retorted.
“Milaca, will take a magical jewel that contains all MLC magic, known as Majestica, but will be defeated by Taylor Magi, a rare MCL with all the powers. However, Taylor doesn’t know of her powers, and a group of eight will lead her to an understanding.
                “Of love.”
However, if the group fails, Milaca will steal all knowledge, and take over the world and those who aren’t MLC’s will bow before him.
“So, some girl doesn’t know of her powers and a group is going to be sent out and if this group fails we’ll all turn into mindless robots for this Milaca,” Saige summarized, hands on her hips, her brown eyes squinted.
“Yep. That about sums it up,” Bree said cheerfully, like turning into a slave was the best thing that could ever happen to her.
“Also, some very powerful elves have been disappearing.” Marco said at the exact same time her sister chimed in.
“How could Taylor not notice she is an MLC?” Margo asked, not even paying attention to the conversation before, “I’m mean, she must have noticed she has a mark on her wrist.”
“Guys, I called you because-,” Nadili started.
Linda tugged on me sleeve and asked, “What’s an MLC?” I looked at her adorable, large, brown eyes and answered, “An MLC is a Magical Living Creature, like you. We’re all MLCs.” She looked around and everyone nodded. She pulled on my sleeve again and asked, “How do you know? Are you sure? I’ve never done magic before.”
I tried my best to squat in the crowded room so I could be level with her. “This is how we know.” I pointed to a brown mark on her arm that looked like a bracelet, going around her wrist. I help up my right wrist to reveal the same mark, but a fiery orange. “You’re an animal type.”
“What do I do?” Linda looked at her mark with her eyes wide.
“You can talk to animals and when you get older, you can change into an animal.” She immediately looked deeply in my eyes for any signs of teasing. When she saw my serious face, she looked at my mark.
Sorry to leave you with a cliffhanger! Next part coming up!!!

Journey to the Center of the Earth

Chuck Norris woke up in a deep crater. Must have been snoring again he thought as he got out of bed. Then the phone rang. When he picked it up, he heard Superman’s voice. “It’s Batman. He’s gone.” Chuck was not expecting that. “We need to assemble the team,” he replied. “It’s time.”
Minutes later, Chuck and Superman met on the corner of “Epic” and “Story”. Chuck Norris brought the magic conch shell of amazing power. “Blow the conch!” said Superman, clearly in a hurry. Chuck blew. Then, as if by magic, four figures appeared. The first of which was the Incredible Hulk.  Next came Dobby, Smeagol, and the Doctor with his Tardis. “We came as fast as we could,” said Dobby in his annoyingly high pitched voice. “We need to save Batman,” said Chuck. “He’s been taken to the center of the earth by cavemen! Hulk, I need you to smash the earth’s crust so we can get to the mantle. “Grrr…” Hulk replied as he pulled a street lamp out of the ground. He started smashing.
After about thirty minutes of smashing, Hulk finally got through 25 miles of crust, down to the mantle. “Now Dobby,” said Superman. “I need you to create a force field around all of us and float us down through the two liquid layers. It didn’t take much time before they were standing right in the center of the planet. Who did they find there? Dinosaurs.
“Smeagol! I need you to use the ring to hide us from the giant man eating dinosaur!” Screamed Chuck Norris. Smeagol put on the ring and hid them all.  Once Chuck saw that his friends were safe, he decided to beat up that big old reptile. He punched it in the jaw. The sound of its skull shattering echoed off the walls. “All clear guys!” he yelled. Smeagol took off the ring and revealed the team in their hiding place. “Now we should all split up and look for Batman,” said the Doctor. They all split into teams to look for the lost super hero. But as soon as they decided who was going with who, Dobby was suddenly on fire. “I’m on fire guys!” he screamed. “It must have been the heat of the iron core!” yelled the Doctor. “Just leave him, he’s done for.” So they left Dobby to die a fiery death.
After much searching, the Legendary Team of Awesomeness found Batman tied up and surrounded by a bunch of cavemen. “The time is now to save our friend,” said Superman. “Go!” Then one by one, the team picked off the cavemen. Hulk smashed while the Doctor used his Sonic Screwdriver to blow up a caveman's brain. Smeagol just sat and admired the One Ring, until his face was stabbed by a caveman with a spear. The battle was over. Batman was free. But the journey just begun. “How are we going to get back?” asked Batman. “Leave that to me,” said the Doctor as he stepped into the Tardis. “Hurry! Get in before the Tardis lights on fire--like Dobby!” They all got into the Tardis and teleported back to the crust. After much work, Chuck Norris filled the hole to the center of the earth forever.

Or so they thought…
They will encounter more problems in a sequel.
Lauren Contest

Lauren Bendesky Is your average teen aged girl. She has family and friends that enjoy spending time with her, but for a long period of time she was not able to see them. She could not see them because she was in a hospital fighting for her life against a kind of cancer called  Neuroblastoma. This cancer has affected her life jarrasticly. Her life has changed in many ways, one of the ways was having to live in a hospital for many weeks, also she couldn’t see her friends and family for a while. In the article Unbroken it says “  All around her had been the sounds of medical machines▬a percussive melody of beeps and bleeps that allowed an army of nurses and doctors to keep close tabs on her condition. These noises had become the soundtrack to her life.”.

She has coped with these challenges with two jars, at the end of each day she would take a bag of pink and blue stones, if she felt good she would take a pink stone and put it in a jar, if she felt she would take a blue stone and put it into a jar. Another reason she has coped with these challenges is her friends and family being with her when they could to support her and give her hope. In conclusion her life has been changed because of cancer also she has coped with cancer by getting support from her friends and family.

My Biggest Adventure
By: Matthew Van Gils
I was going to Alaska with my dad, grandpa, and uncle.
I was so excited.
When we got there we went fishing.
We fished a lot.
And we fished some more.
But on a nice sunny day we hiked.
We started our hike.
Everything was so beautiful.
Then we started to see fish bones.
There were fish bones everywhere.
We could see bears in the distance.
But then we saw a baby bear.
A cute baby bear.
A baby bear ran right in front of us.
But wait, where was it’s mom?
We see a huge momma bear walk right in front of us.
She was about 10 feet away.
Hard not to run, hard to be calm.
My heart was beating like a drum.
We backed off, and we were all ok.
That was the day of my Biggest Adventure.

Fall

Fall!!!

Fall starts in October and November,

and then it ends in December.

Then as the hot summer disappears like a dying ember,

we enter the cool weather in November.

Once the weather starts to cool,

we then go back to school.

Then the birds flying south fill the sky,

while the plants turn brown and dry.

Then the crispy leaves fall down,

and pumpkin pie is smelt from miles around,

and the gold, and red leaves carpet the ground.

Then we have a great Thanksgiving feast,

But once you're done you feel like your stomach has increased.

Then you eat delicious pumpkin pie,

that tastes so good that you could eat it till you die.
