Rebekah: Majestica Prologue Final Part!

He rubbed his mark with two fingers. In one hand, a shadow ball grew and a fireball in the other.
“Today is the day, where I rule!” he shouted, and put both hands together. It crackled of the combined force and he cackled. “Everyone will bow before me!” He raised his hand
It was clear what he was doing and I couldn’t just stand here and watch.
“NO!” I screamed and leaped in front of my sister who stirred and slowly fluttered her eyes open.
“Jake!” she cried and screamed when she saw the villain with an evil grin on his face, the mixed fire and shadow ball lighting up his face. “MOMMY! DADDY! Jake, don’t let him hurt me!” she cried and grabbed my hand, squeezing it as hard as she could.
“Sweetie!” a voice from the other side of the house shouted and there were pounding footsteps.
“Move over boy!” he ordered making eye contact with me, but I held fast to my sister, who bawled and hugged me hard.
“You aren’t touching my sister!” I shot bravely, and pulled her into a hug; her tearful face wetting my shirt. “You have to kill me first.”
The murderer suddenly looked frightened and it was then when I realized the ball was getting bigger and bigger by the minute. Before he could do anything, the ball flew out of his hands and headed towards my sister, who screamed.
“SWEETIE! NO!” Mom cried, and burst through the room just as he disappeared.
“NO!” I shouted and pushed my sister to the ground as the deadly weapon hit me square in the chest. Pain exploded all over my body and memories flew around my head as I was lifted up in the air. My vision blurred. My heart stopped beating. I felt myself hitting the floor. I heard my sister crying and my mom shouting at me.
“Jake! Jake!” my dad shouted. A hand ran down my back. Tears splashed on the back of my head.
“Ta,” I whispered, but before I could finish, it was all over.

In my opinion, it's better to start all the way at the beginning and read the entire prologue! Chapter 1: Roxanna, coming soon!!!!

Rebekah: Majestica Prologue Part Two

“Makala,” I kneeled by the place she had vanished and hoped she would appear again, but the sound of bells didn’t come and she didn’t appear again, smiling like nothing had ever happened.
Someone swore softly right outside my door and small thuds of footsteps accompanied it heading toward the end of the hall, where my sister lay in bed, probably sound asleep.
Out of natural instinct, I opened the door as quietly as I could and peeked out of the hall. A person with the hood of the large jacket pulled over their head stood in front of my sister’s door covered in smiley faces, dogs and cat stickers. In the middle of the white door, a small picture with four way-better-than-stick-figures and a detailed dog colored in sea blue crayon was captioned, “My Family”. She always had the artistic talent in her, but right now the picture didn’t matter. A trespasser was outside of my sister’s door, wanting to do something with her.
The intruder pulled back a sleeve of his heavy woolen black jacket to reveal a red and black bracelet looking mark. As soon as I saw the mark, fear washed over me. The hood fell off and the man under was revealed. The hall grew colder, sending goosebumps up my arm. I put on my crimson robe and peeked back out eh door. At that moment, I knew who this person was, why he was here, and what he was about to do. I felt paralyzed. Mom and dad have warned me about him for many years, but I never he thought he’d take a chance and actually do it.
I wanted to crawl out my window and run away and stay away forever so I wouldn’t have to watch. I wanted to charge at the trespasser and tackle him. I wanted to run to my mom and dad and cry to them, like I used to when I was younger.
The door to her room creaked open, and the intruder took a step forward with an evil grin on his face. Inside the room, my sister stirred in her sleep, and her smile changed into a worried face as she whimpered and curled up into a ball.
“At last,” he said in a voice that sent a shiver down my spine, “At last! She’s mine!”

Reflections Contest For October

The World Would be a Better Place if Everyone Could Give a Bit of Kindness

By: Sierra Renstrom

Kindness is one simple thing
Many people can do it like you and me
Kindness goes a long way
Each and everyday
Give someone a smile
And it might go a mile

Kindness can save someone's day
It's not very hard in any way
Kindness is helping someone in need
And by showing there lead
This one little action
Will take bulling away like subtraction

Kindness doesn't mean to be rude
Just ask someone a question in a good mood
Kindness will brighten your day
And you don't need to pay
If everyone could be this
Our world would have a different twist
Zenit Contest

Veterans should be given the chance to adopt the military dogs that they worked with. The veterans often miss their military dogs and are sad. The dogs and their handlers develop a strong bond and when they are taken from their dog, they have emotional stress.

Veterans miss their military dogs that they served with. They have a strong bond. In the october issue of Scholastic Scope Magazine, It says that Jose Armenta and his dog Zenit were serving in Afghanistan as a bomb sniffer. Jose stepped on a bomb, and had both legs amputated. He was living in San Diego with his wife. He felt very depressed and sad because he didn’t have his dog. However, when he go his dog back, he felt like he had part of his life back.

Veterans should be able to adopt the military dogs they worked with. Without the dog, they are unhappy and stressed. I hope you will consider this.

-------> READ MY COMMENTS BEFORE READING THIS! <-------

The world had changed a lot in the years before the experimental "Jacks" as they were called had escaped from Jerigo headquarters in columbia, and not for the better.
Sorry, I guess I should introduce myself before I get onto the story of how the Jacks have almost destroyed life as we know it.  My name is  Kaylee, Kaylee Gray, and I wish that I was your normal 14 year old girl who goes to school everyday and hangs out with her friends afterward, but that's not me, and it never will be.
My future was destroyed around the age of nine, or eight, I can't and don't care to try to remember.  All that I thought was right about the world ended on the dawn of 2018, when all the insects being tested in Jerigo headquarters escaped and wrecked havoc upon the United States and the rest of the world.
Jerigo had been created on February 19 of 2017, and everyone left in the world knew the exact date because they were supposed to be the savior of mankind.  The company had been created to discover a way to stop the massive influx of bats spreading throughout the globe.
Some sort of virus had apparently been spreading through the bats and turning them into bloodthirsty creatures of prey.  The bats began to attack in massive numbers at anything living that they could get to, these ranging from swarms of insects to humans in cites to enormous whales that happened to come out of the water while the bats were nearby.
Anyway, Jerigo had been started as an attempt to stop these bats from destroying the world, since nothing short of a nuke had been able to destroy the armies of bats that went from city to city destroying everything and everyone and leaving nothing behind to be foraged by the few remaining survivors.  The company had started to breed massive amounts of insects and injecting them with chemicals that gave them the abilities to survive very harsh climates and to group up and attack anything that was attacking them.
After a few weeks of breeding Jerigo released all of the gathered and bred super insects on the world in a attempt to wipe out the bats that had still been spreading, but not before having all the insects breath a certain type of chemical gas that would make them die within three days. This would supposedly let them breed enough to wipe out all the bats and then dying on their own after their job was done.
However, the most of the insects super-evolved after being released and became able to survive the venom that was supposed to kill them after they did their job, and they did do their job. The insects destroyed every last bat that was in the world, and I don't think anyone in our Troop has seen one since, but the insects never died.  So now they are the ones that are destroying our world, and this time, their is no Jerigo or similar group to stop them.
As far as our Troop can tell about 90 percent of the world has been destroyed by these insects, which we all now refer to as the "Jacks", not to mention the bats that had previously been destroying the earth and its occupants, and thats your up-to-date story of how the world is going so far.  I am one of the few left alongside in my troop. My family is dead and so are everyone that I have ever lived near or far from.  I you care to hear this exact same story again, you can ask anyone else still alive in this world, since we have all lost everything and everyone we once had.
We are going on a food raid tomorrow in one of the cities near our hideout. Fortunately most of the insects are unable to break into canned provisions and we can sneak in and take it. The insects also normally leave the cities behind after destroying and eating everything, so there aren't normally any large swarms to deal with, but you never know, because in this new world, every day could be your last.
Part two coming next month, I do not have a name for this story yet
                        and will be taking suggestions.

Taking Time to Remember
By: Sophie Chandler

Remembering is taking the time to realize what happened in the past
I remember the time I spent with family last
Thinking of good times gone by.
I remember these things that cause me great joy

I remember the time we had our reunion
when we all revel in each others company.
We were all joined in union
as felt each others love in assembly.

Family is what keeps us remembering

the great memories of love and happiness.

Have you ever seen a boy sleeping with a pack of wolves?  Just as I thought, you haven't.  Here, let me paint a picture in your mind.  Jason was a 12 year old boy.  He was very interested in things like machines and animals and tools.  For example, when he was three, he tried to catch a bird but almost got hit by a car.  That scared him mom so bad that she did not let him out of her sight for about ten days.  Then when he was five, he was smashing rocks with a hammer, but he smashed his thumb and cried a lot.  But the worst of all was when he had to go to his Grandmother's house.
It all started when Jason came home from school and his mom said, "Guess what?  You get to go to your grandma's house."
Jason said, "Hey Mom, thanks for letting me guess!  And why do I have to go to her house?  It smells old and like prunes?"
She said, "I thought that you liked her house?"
"Ya I liked it when I was four!" Jason said.
His mom said, "Well, you're going wether you like it or not, and I hope that you do it with a good attitude, you know how Grandma feels about things like that."
When Jason's car pulled up, her house looked the same as it did eight years ago.  "Mom, why do I even have to stay at her house for this long?" said Jason.
"Because me and your father are going on a cruise," said Mom.
Like always Jason had to correct her grammar, "You mean father and I," mumbled Jason.
Then him mom said, "Time to go, hope you have a fun time."
     "Not likely," said Jason.
When Jason knocked on the door nobody answered.  He thought in his mind, hey, maybe the old woman is not home.  But just as he finished that thought, he heard the bolt for the door slide open with an erie creak, that creak gave Jason the goosebumps.  The door opened and showed a little old lady, her hair in a bun, her skin all wrinkled.  For a second Jason thought why he was so mad for not wanting to come here.
His grandma invited him in and said, "Your room is in the basement."
Great he thought.  Out of all the rooms in the mansion this was the room he got, gee thanks grandma.  When he got down there it was full of animals and robots and tools, WOW!  Grandma, you have got lots of tools.  He set up his bed and started on the robots.  He already had the vision in his mind that he was going to make robot wolves so he could entertain himself while he was here.  First, he made the blue prints, then he found all the pieces for the wolves. He worked on it all week, and they were finally done.  He only had made one of the wolves because they took so long.  He took the wolf outside and turned the power on,  It sprang to life.  Jason had fun with the wolf, then everything went wrong.  The wolf malfunctioned and too off for the woods.  Jason yelled and grabbed the remote and pressed buttons, but the wolf just kept on running.  So Jason started running after it; he threw things at it.  When it got to the edge of the woods, it stopped, shuddered and exploded.  Jason found the head of his now destroyed wolf and cried, almost as bad as when he smashed his finger.  Then he heard a growl and looked up.  In front of him stood the biggest wolf he had ever seen.  The it said, "Come, stop weeping, and follow me."
Well, that's what Jason thought it said.  Jason stood up and said, "I am not going to go with you."  The wolf growled and Jason said, "You want me to to with you, sure I'll go.  Why didn't you just ask?"  When they walked what seemed like ten miles they finally stopped.  Jason asked, "Where are we going anyway?"  The wolf growled and Jason said, "Hey dude, back off."  When they had walked another ten miles, they stopped and the wolf stepped on a stone and the boulder in front of them moved and showed a dark tunnel with a slide in it and Jason slipped and fell into the darkness.  Jason had blacked out.  When he woke he was surrounded by wolves that were very much asleep.  Jason tried to slip by, but the big wolf snapped its jaws and Jason moved back to the middle of the circle.  Jason tried to think, but he eventually dozed off.  There, for all the world to see, a twelve year old boy slept with a pack of wolves,
