Bacon was having a great day.
First off, the boy she liked, Earth, was her Science lab partner. They got to sit next to each other and work on the atom assignment together. She absolutely loved it.
Second, her best friend Cheese was taking everyone to Blair-Mania for her birthday! All the cool kids hung out there on Fridays and your popularity status went up 10 points if you were even seen there. Bacon was only at 30 / 100 points, so her status would go up to 40! Then, she'd have an even better chance at having Earth like her, who was at 75 / 100 points.
Lastly, she was going to pick up her newly adopted dog Genius from the pet shelter that day. He was a little chihuahua-Yorkie mix, cream colored with a soft bark and an always wiggling tail. It was going to be her first official pet, since her mom was allergic to cats and her dad was allergic to birds.
It was going to be great.
Bacon woke up that morning 30 minutes earlier so she could curl her hair and actually focus on her makeup. She wasn't really a makeup kind of person, but she didn't want Earth to think she was a dweeb or something. She hoped she wasn't a dweeb... But she put on her nicest blouse and comfiest jeans with her new sparkly heels and left to get on the school bus.
That's when it started.
As Bacon was skipping up to the school bus, which had arrived on time, she tripped on her heels and went sprawling into the grass.
"NO!"
Bacon's hair was now messy and she had grass stains all over her jeans. She sat in the grass and tried to rub the stains out, but they just wouldn't go. The bus driver honked, indicating that she needed to get on, so she blinked back her tears and climbed up the steps. Apparently everyone on the bus had seen her blunder, because they all looked at her and laughed.
Bacon felt horrible.
She quickly made her way to the back of the bus where she and Cheese usually sat, but when she got there, Cheese was sitting with Chicken, the cheerleading captain and prettiest girl in the school.
"...Cheese?"
Cheese looked merciful, but Chicken sure didn't. "Sorry, you're gonna have to sit somewhere else today, because I'm sitting with Cheese," Chicken snapped. Before Cheese could say anything, Bacon simply turned around and sadly looked for another spot on the school bus, but they all seemed to be taken.
Except for the seat next to Orange, who was the school dweeb. But... it would have to do.
She awkwardly sat on the other side of the bench. Orange peered behind his too-long black hair up from his iPod to analyze Bacon. Obviously thinking Bacon wasn't worth his time, Orange looked back out the window and turned up his music even louder. The whole bus ride to school was just plain awkward.
Could Bacon's day get any worse?
Hi! I just wanted to write this for humor because this is how I see 7th grade life, like the popularity status and the whole thing about Earth. My friends helped me pick the most random names for the characters, so that's my excuse for naming them things like Bacon. I dunno if I'm gonna continue this... but I might just end it as is.

October Post
I've been working on this book, this is a small part of it. Tell me what you think! ;)
(I know it's long ^_^)
Hadley's Summer
(I know it's long ^_^)
Hadley's Summer
“Are you sure you wanna leave before your siblings get back?” asked Shelly Hunt, Hadley’s mom. “They’d be really upset, especially Riley and Ashley. Her kids would really miss you too. Not to mention Rick and Tammy.” she continued. “Mom,” Hadley said. “I really don’t think that Rick’s girlfriend will really care that I’m gone. In fact, she’ll probably be glad that I’m not there to tell if they do anything bad.” she explained. “Which is everything.” Hadley muttered under her breath. “It’s okay, mom. I really need to do this. And plus, I get to see Grandpa.” she said. Hadley could see tears swelling up in her mothers’ eyes. She gave her an extra big hug and said that everything was going to be alright. She checked her outfit out in her moms’ SUVs’ window, which she had stressed about for hours, and nodded. She was dressed in a pink and gray plaid shirt with dark-washed jeans and her black converse. Her brown hair was in loose waves around her shoulders. She looked at her almond-shaped eyes with mascara on her eyelashes. “Oh, the bus is here.” her mother said sadly. Hadley turned to her mother and bit her tongue to fight back the tears. She hugged her mother and quickly boarded the bus. Looking back on the steps of the city bus, Hadley looked back at her mom and said,” Say ‘bye’ to Riley, Drew, Rick, and Ashley and her kids for me. And Adam.” Hadley was talking about her sister Ashely’s husband Adam. They had three adorable kids: Emmy, Jackson, and Adelaide, who went by Addie. Memories of Ashley’s kids came running through Hadley’s mind. Emmy showing her what tricks she could do on her trike. Jackson telling her all about how he had helped his mommy that day with baby Addie. Addie giggling about her toes and making Hadley laugh. She knew that she would miss so many important moments in their lives, but she knew that she had to do this. Hadley boarded the bus and she chose a spot near the end of the bus, where it was empty, and threw her backpack down and sat down with a big sigh. She saw her mom wave with a tissue in her hand as her dark brown hair blew back as the bus departed. Hadley couldn’t watch her mother cry because she knew that she would run back and give her mom a hug and probably not go.
Hadley was going to visit her Grandpa on his ranch near Mapleton, UT. The small town was nearly nine miles away from her Grandfathers’ ranch but Hadley had always loved going to visit him. The reason she was going was quite complicated but as simple as this. She was running away from all the drama that was going to occur in her family in the next couple of months. Hadley was adopted into the Hunt- Olsen family when she was two weeks old. She was originally born in Seoul, South Korea but her biological parents had already lost custody of her before she was born. Apparently, Hadley’s mom, Shelly, was working for Utah Fostercare™, when she heard about an adorable little Asian baby who was in need of foster care and was 10 days old. Shelly instantly fell love with what would be her little Hadley. After a not-so-long process of adoption, Hadley came home as a bundle of joy to a very happy family. Meanwhile, Shelly’s husband Brady Olsen had become quite frustrated with his wife because he thought that he had told her quite clearly that the did not want another child. Especially since she was a girl, she was Asian, and she was adopted. Brady was a very nice man, but was very particular and liked people to follow his preference. Later, when Hadley was 6 months old, Brady left Shelly, Ashley, Rick, Riley, Drew, and of course, Hadley. To this day, Hadley still blames herself for what happened that day when Brady left. Why Hadley had gone to her Grandpas’ ranch was this. Brady had finally contacted Shelly after more than 12 years. But, it was no friendly letter. This was a letter that said that he wanted custody of Rick and Drew. He was still legally eligible to have custody and he still legally could. Brady wanted a court appearance and settle it with Shelly and the boys. Hadley, along with her sisters, was terrified of what would and could happen. Anything from Brady taking her brothers forever to them switching back and forth was in range. Hadley had had about enough with her mother crying herself to sleep every night and her brothers staying up tell four o’clock in the morning discussing what they wanted. Not to mention Ashley and Adam never bringing their kids to their house because they wanted to avoid them getting attached to their uncles and then be torn apart. As luck would have it, the court appearance was on Friday the 13th.
So, Hadley was already expecting the worst. Hadley had made last minute arrangements on the 31st of May and left her hometown of Logan, UT on the 1st of June. The reasons that she was leaving was that she was afraid of loosing her most cherished moments of her family, that warm hug when she needed it most, that smile when she scored a goal, those endless nights on the roof looking at the stars. But most of all, her older brothers, her best friends. Rick and Drew were everything to Hadley. They loved her so much too. However, recently they hadn’t necessarily been there for her. They had been spending a lot of time at their dad’s house. Getting his opinion about the whole thing. Hadley had left while they were gone. Riley and Ashley and her family were in Salt Lake because Adam had some meetings. Hadley had decided that this was the perfect time to leave. She knew that her siblings would never let her go. Hadley had told her brothers and sisters what she was going to do and Riley, along with Ashley and Adam, cried for her not to go. Drew and Rick were fighting back tears and telling her that she would regret it forever. In their family, they acted like every goodbye was for forever. And this goodbye, was probably going to be for a very long time. As these memories flooded Hadley’s mind, she looked out the window and said in a whisper, “It’s for the better.” Hadley rested her head against the comfy seat and her eyes drifted to sleep.
Soon, the bus jerked to a stop and Hadley’s eyes flew open. “Oh my gosh, we’re here.” she muttered. She got up with the rest of the passengers and got off. As soon as she got off the bus, she saw her grandpa with his famous smile and his red and white truck. “Grandpa!” Hadley cried. She ran into his arms and felt his warm embrace. “How’s my little girl?” he asked with a smile. “Like you wouldn’t believe.” Hadley said shaking her head. “Well, let’s get your stuff and you can tell me all about it.” he said. Hadley nodded her head and looked around for her stuff. She spotted her bags in a pile close to the bus. She pointed and they walked over to her things. “Holy cow, did you go ahead and bring your entire wardrobe?” asked Grandpa. Hadley laughed and said, “Well, considering how long you said I could stay, maybe.” she said with a sly smile. They gathered up her bags and dumped everything into Grandpa’s truck. As they got in and buckled up, Grandpa said, “So, how’s my little girl been? Oh, and how’s the family?” “The family has been good. And Ashley’s kids are growing like you wouldn’t believe.” Hadley reported. “Oh, yes. Ashley and her husband. How many kids do they have? Last time they came to visit, that little Jackson was, oh, about as big as my hand!” George exclaimed. George Drake was Hadley’s grandpa’s name. “Well, Jackson is three, and they just had another little girl, Adelaide, 6 months ago.” Hadley said. “Wow! Am I really getting that old?” George asked. Hadley laughed and nodded. They laughed and talked the rest of the way to the Drake Ranch. As George pulled in front of the house, he said, “Well, go get unpacked and meet me at the barn. I have a surprise for you.” “Oh, a surprise.” Hadley said. She already knew that he would have a surprise for her, because he always had a surprise or a gift for her every time she came. Hadley just threw her bags in her room and grabbed her cowboy boots from her suitcase. She pulled them on and ran outside. Hadley slowed herself down and stopped to look at everything. She always loved to come to Grandpa’s house. The quiet peace and stillness wasn’t tradable.
Rebekah: Majestica Chapter 1 Part Three
ATTENTION! BEFORE YOU READ THIS, I BEG OF YOU TO READ THE PROLOGUE AND THE OTHER PARTS OR ELSE THIS WON'T MAKE ANY SENSE!
At
the restaurant, we all huddled in the one-person bathroom and made sure the
door was locked. “Have you all had
the dream?” Madi said the word ‘dream’ in a creepy voice, causing Linda to hide
behind my legs and squeeze my hand, “I’ve had it for the past week.” She pulled
a flashlight out of her pocket and shown it on her face. It made her fair skin
look ghostly pale and her light green eyes were almost white. Her
almost-white-blond hair seemed whiter than ever, making her look like a ghost. “The
dream was terrifying!” she said in her creepy voice. When Linda shrieked, Madi
laughed and turned off the flashlight, putting it back into her pocket of her
shorts.
“I
sure have,” Margo said, with a faint Canadian accent, sitting on the closed
toilet. Marco nodded next to Margo in her wheelchair, her brown hair up to her
shoulders bounced up and down. The twins looked exactly alike; except Margo had
hazel eyes and Marco had brown. They both had tan skin and short brown hair
that barely grazed her shoulders. Not only that, they were both Canadian.
“That’s
not why I called you guys.” Nadili insisted, but no one paid attention.
“It
was really scary. Some scary shadows popped out at me and someone was saying
something to me. He said something about the prophecy, the one I learnded a
little bit about in a book. He also said something about us being the ones in
the prophecy. I’m scared.” Linda said, ignoring her sister. She shivered and
scooted closer to me.
Bree
pulled a thick, purple book stamped with golden patterns out of a teal backpack
she had brought with her and opened to a page, beginning to read.
Rebekah: Majestica Chapter 1 Part Two
A
small mew startled me as my cat, Mittens, came strolling into my room, acting
like a king. Jumping onto my bed, I rubbed his black back as he stretched his
white paws. Black tail twitching, he suddenly pounced on a loose string on my
sheet. I couldn’t help but laugh. Mittens always knew how to make me feel
better.
During
breakfast, while my brother Joseph told a long and boring story about his own dream,
I ran my dream over in my head.
“Roxana,
you’re awfully quiet today. Something bothering you?” My mom asked, her honest
green eyes searching. I shook my head and asked to be excused. Realizing I
wasn’t going to tell, she nodded. “And Roxana,” she stopped me before I left
the room; “Nadili called a few minutes ago and wants you to meet her at Pirate
Cove in the arcade section. She said Madi, Bree, Linda, Saige and the twins
Margo and Marco would be there. She had already paid for it and is waiting for
you at the entrance. She also said they’d be there for a while and that it is
urgent.”
“Okay.
Thanks mom.” I kissed her cheek and shoved my feet into my green tennis shoes. My
mom was a big softie and trusted my friends so much, I could tell her I was
going to help fight a war with them and she’d let me go.
I
was surprised to see Bree Carson when I opened the door, her hand in a knocking
position. Her long blond hair that just passed her waist was pulled into a ponytail
and she had wrapped teal duct tape around the bridge of her large, thick, nerdy
glasses. The duct tape was the same shade as her rare color of eyes. I was not surprised
to see her shirt, shorts, headband, and shoes the same color of the duct tape.
That was Bree’s habit to wear the same color of clothes. She’d always say she
wouldn’t have to worry about matching the shorts to the shirt.
“Ready
to go Roxy?” she asked with a cheerful smile. Behind her in the driveway,
eleven year old Madi Palmer, twelve year old Saige Poplin, six year old Lori
and eleven year old Nadili Gray, twelve year old Margo and Marco Green all had
worried faces as if someone’s dog died.
“Sure…I
guess. I thought you guys were going to meet me at Pirate Cove. Not at my
house.” I inquired.
“When
we called, your mom answered and said you were still asleep.” Linda explained,
holding Madi’s hand, searching for my cat.
“We just wanted to make sure you got the message.”
“Well
I got it alright. Let’s go.”
The Lauren Contest
Lauren Bedesky was diagnosed with neuroblastoma when she was a teenager. She fought, would feel well and she would win. There were times when doctors and nurses were fighting to keep her alive. Lauren’s life had changed so dramatically, she was so very close to death. How she coped with the trials that she had to go through, no one knows. We do know that it was hard. She always had a good attitude, and that helped her get through the hard times.
On the morning of May 27, 2012, Lauren’s life changed very abruptly. Her mom noticed that she had a very strange lump on her chest. Her mom, being a nurse, realized that it could be a very big problem. Lauren’s mom told her that she was taking her to the hospital. Though Lauren felt fine, she reluctantly went. What the surgeons found inside her was a 15 pound tumor the shape of a football.
In the spring of 2013, therapy was finally finished. She had survived countless rounds of chemo. She survived nine rounds of radiation. The cancer that had scared her and her family was finally gone. After all those tests and treatments, it was finally gone. Lauren now works with an organization called the St. Baldrick's Foundation. She is healthy and ok and it was all because of her good attitude.

October Monthly post
Letter Contest
Does cursive still matter? Some people think that cursive is a lost art and doesn’t matter anymore. These arts definately have value in today’s society. There is many reasons why cursive is important in today’s world. Cursive helps kids learn a new way of writing. It is a lot faster, and looks alot cooler. Cursive also helps kids develop their signature. Signatures are important because, people sign checks with them, represents people’s names, and the declaration of independence was signed in signatures/cursive. Cursive should be preserved because there is many uses for it. Normal handwriting can take a long time, and if an assignment requires that it is written in cursive, it will be faster and you will get a better grade. Those are not the only reasons why cursive is important, there is many more. Cursive looks beautiful, and it is important to many adult’s lives.

Rebekah: Just Because I Couldn't Help It:
Chapter 1: Roxana
“Roxana…Roxana…great things are destined to
come to you… just believe,” someone whispered to me. I jerked my head to the voice, only looking at
a bare white wall. Looking around, I realized I was surrounded by the walls.
There was no light, yet it wasn’t dark either. There were no doors, or windows.
I was trapped. “Roxana, you need to believe in yourself. Taylor Magi needs you.”
“I have no idea where she is! Besides,
Taylor wouldn’t accept me!” I shouted. “She’s the almighty MCL.” I had no idea
what I was even talking about. I had no idea who this Taylor even was.
“She doesn’t know…the prophecy
Roxana.” the voice got fainter, and dark shadows began to cloud around me.
“I can’t be the one in the
prophecy!” I shouted. I still was confused. I only knew the first half of the
prophecy, not the other part, probably what the strange voice was talking
about.
“You and your f…”The voice
drifted off and the clouds continued to fold around me. I gasp and tried to
push back them, but something, like a hand, shoved me to the floor, or what I
thought was a floor. It disappeared and I tumbled into the darkness. I tried to
scream, but my voice was caught in my throat.
I suddenly landed hard into a
cave. I pushed myself up and shook my head several times, trying to figure out
what was going on. Suddenly, I felt extremely cold and couldn’t support myself
anymore, ending up face planting into the ground. I managed to lift my head up
a little and looked to the side. A face, extremely close to my face, made of
fire and shadow with black, unfocused eyes, stared at me. I screamed, unable to
move. There was a loud cackle from the stranger, and a murderous voice said,
“Well, well, well. It’s Roxana! The poor little girl who had to deal with me!
Let’s see…” A cold hand ran down my back, and then stopped at my right wrist
where my magic mark was. “A fire type? Too bad.” There was another bone
chilling laugh and pain shot through my body.
Gasping, I realized it was
just a dream, a dream I had had for the past week. 10:19 pm. My alarm clock
perched on my crowded, wooden dresser read in bright blue numbers. I must have
slept in. A smell of blueberry pancakes and bacon filled the air. Sitting up, I
found myself staring at my bad case of bed head in my mirror. I grabbed my mini
turquoise brush and began to madly swipe at the tangles in my hair.
